Why We Do What We Do
Why did we create Virginia Web Works?
We are a group of Christians who have been "surfing" the internet since the late 80's.
No, that's not a typo. It was 1988 when I first logged into an online service: GEnie. In 1988, GEnie was as close as non-university people could get to the internet. Later, I signed up for a CompuServe account and kept that for several years. I was hooked.
I joined the missionary staff of Christian Aid Mission in 1993. Because of my experience with the online world and the fact that I had created personal websites for myself and some friends, I was asked in 1994 by the mission's President to create a website for the ministry. The world wide web was in its infancy.
Being on staff with Christian Aid opened my eyes to the great needs of poor and oppressed people around the world. The opportunities to raise money for the ministry on the web are endless. Virginia Web Works was born in 1998 to enable us to give money to ministries around the world that have touched our hearts and to fund our own local ministry in central Virginia.
Why do we put so much energy into service?
Selfishness comes easy to me. It is only when I have my focus on Jesus Christ that I have a heart to serve others. From the beginning, I make the conscious decision to work hard and go above and beyond what was asked of me to serve my clients. It has not been easy, but it has been fulfilling.
Today, most of my clients are non-profit organizations and churches. Those are the kind of people we hang out with. We are attracted to them and they to us. But we are just as delighted every time a business signs up with us. We consider it our privilege to serve our clients. It is you who enable us to continue to support ministries and to be in ministry.
It is our pleasure to serve you.
